Rob started dancing at the age of 14 in the North West at Heysham High School in Morecambe. He trained at the Central School of Ballet and 1987 joined the Dutch National Ballet as an apprentice.

He went on to dance with the company for 15 years, dancing in all the major classical and contemporary works of the 20th century. This included roles of Rothbart in Swanlake, Hilarian in Giselle and the Moor in Petrushka.

He now works as a freelance teacher and choreographer, teaching ballet and creative dance. He is currently working for the Royal Ballet School on their Primary Steps programme and the Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) at the Lowry Theatre.
