PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES & UPDATE FOR 2015

There are a number of forthcoming performance opportunities for the YDA dancers, a number of which are still to be confirmed but at least everyone will be able to put the dates in their diaries and inform Lucy of any issues BEFORE the day of the performance (yda@swindondance.org.uk).

So here’s what’s happening in brief for the spring term including up-and-coming performance opportunities:

YDA open days:

If you spot a young dancer with potential send them with parents/guardians to YDA open day OR pass their details onto Viv who will follow up with invite.

Swindon & Exeter programmes:

Saturday 28^th March 2015; 1:00-3:30 p.m.  Swindon Dance, Town Hall Studios, Regent Circus, Swindon SN1 1QF

Sunday 29^th March 2015; 12:30-3:00 p.m.  Exeter University, Alexander Building, Thornlie, New North Road, Exeter EX4 4LA

Swindon urban programme:

Sunday 29^th March 2015; 12:00-2:15 p.m.  Swindon Dance, Town Hall Studios, Regent Circus, Swindon SN1 1QF

SPRING 2015:

Jan intensive – audition toolkit 5^th-8^th January, at Swindon Dance led by Leesa Phillips & Maryam Pourian, for auditioning students from all YDA progammes.

ECP:

 ·         Working with Ben Dunks (Attik Dance) Sundays and February intensive.

·      Curtain raiser performance – James Wilton, Plymouth 27^th & 28^th Feb.  There will be an extra rehearsal with Sarah and James on Sunday 22^nd February.

·     Dance regional performance – Sunday 19 April 2015- Exeter Northcott Theatre (Catherine has put forward 2 pieces by James Wilton and Ben Dunks. We are waiting to hear outcome).

·         Curtain raiser performance – Yorke Dance, Swindon 27^th Feb (the piece from YDA 2013-14. Yolanda will be back to reset piece during February intensive).

·         Performance piece with Ex-YDA student Tom English (Punch Drunk & Warner Brothers film Pan out July 2015)

SCP:

·         Working with Glen Wilkinson & Charlotte Eatock.

·         Feb intensive – Joss Arnott and Yorke Dance.

·         Performing in Dance House, Swindon Dance 27^th & 28^th Mar.

SUP:

·         Working with Brooke & Banxy.

·         Feb intensive – National Centre for Circus Arts.

·         Dancin’ Oxford 2015, Oxford 27^th Feb and/or 7^th Mar (application sent now waiting on outcome)

·         Performing in Dance House, Swindon Dance 27^th & 28^th Mar.

·         2 performances: Breakin’ Convention London, & ICON (applications sent now waiting on outcomes).

Other news:

Dan Martin Ex-YDA (now at LCDS) won Young Creatives SW where he got to work with Russell Maliphant and our own Carys Staton. 

ECP grads had a day working with Odette from Wayne MacGregor | Random Dance

The National Dance CATs ran a successful advocacy event in London on 21 October – waiting to see pictures etc. from event.

Charley Logan (YDA, who graduated LCDS July 2015) is now in full swing rehearsing with Danish Dance Theatre in Copenhagen.  The company will be on a national tour of Denmark Jan-Mar 2015.  They have 34 performances and Charley has just learnt that she is performing in all 34 of them!  Well done to our Charley.
