Thomasin Gulgec
Thomasin trained at Swindon Dance and The Rambert School before joining Rambert Dance Company in 2003. During his time with Rambert he created roles in Fin Walker’s Reflection, Javier de Frutos’ Elsa Canasta, Kim Brandstrup’s Songs of a
Wayfarer, Darshan Singh Bhuller’s Stand and Stare,
Doug Verone’s Scribblings and Aletta Collins’ Awakenings.
Thomasin won the
Critics’ Circle Award for outstanding male dancer (modern) in 2010 for his role
in Christopher Bruce’s Hush. In 2011 he worked with film director Joe Wright
and choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui on the recent movie Anna Karenina.
During 2012
Thomasin performed in the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony with Akram Khan
and has been dancing for Russell Maliphant in his latest work The Rodin
Project, as well as performing in a recent US tour of Afterlight. He has worked most recently with Douglas
Thorpe’s Mad Dogs Dance Theatre in the piece Dogs Land. Thomasin has achieved
first Dan Black belt in Shotokan Karate and now practices Capoeira.
