Sarah Ferris

Sarah’s early dance experience and training was with Swindon Dance’s, Youth Dance Company and Dance Foundation Course. She then completed her dance training at The Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance. Sarah has been working with Swindon Dance in many roles, since 2005.

Sarah is founding member of Swerve Dance Theatre Company, led by Artistic Director Helen Ganberg. As such she has toured theatres, performed in festivals, outdoor events and in dance on film works. Performed works include choreographies by Hannah De Cancho, Adrienne Hart from Neon Dance and Laila Diallo.

Sarah has also developed performance work with Henri Oguike, Mission Reposition, Angus Balbernie, The Pattern Club and as a guest performer with choreographer Louise Rennie from Curious Company. She has also worked regularly with choreographer Marie-Louise Flexen.

Since graduating Sarah has taught ballet, contemporary, and choreography for a number of schools and organisations in the region; spending many years teaching for Swindon Dance’s community programme and former BTEC course. She gained her diploma for teaching in the life-long learning sector (DTTLS) from the British Ballet Organisation. Alongside her teaching, she has regularly created performance work with adults and young people.

In 2008 Sarah began the role of Co-ordinator for the Swindon Dance Centre for Advanced Training (formerly known as Youth Dance Academy), contemporary programme at Swindon Dance. The CAT is one of nine Centres for Advanced Training in the country offering pre-vocational dance training for young people. In February 2016, she took over the role as CAT Programme Manager.
