Founder & director of ProDance Agency, Rob became involved in the dance industry relatively late having only started dancing in 1998 at the age of 18 after witnessing some of the UK’s best bboys, poppers and lockers at a London nightclub.
He created his first dance company, Funkstylerz UK, in 2001 along with three other dancers each of whom specialised in a different style of streetdance. To begin with, this was just a group of likeminded individuals and friends but soon the group began to gain recognition and opportunities arose to teach and perform at a number of different events around the country.
Over the next few years he specialised in popping and developed his skills by travelling to meet other dancers and pioneers at competitions and events in Europe and the USA. At this time the streetdance scene in the UK was very small and lacking in knowledge and Rob was keen to expose the UK scene to some of the incredible artists he had already witnessed by organising workshops and getting involved with events.
Rob was the first UK dancer to become part of the Electric Boogaloo worldwide family having been invited by legendary dancers Skeeter Rabbit (RIP), Sugapop & Popin Pete.
In 2004, he created the popping battle at DJ Hooch’s UK B-Boy Championships at Brixton Academy organising the battles, judges and invitations of the international dancers whilst also competing himself in 2004 and 2005. This event helped to shine a light on the global popping scene and inspired a number of young dancers to focus on this style. Since then, Rob has been a producer of the B-Boy Championships and has overseen all aspects of the event from sponsorship to marketing to management.
ProDance Agency was created in 2006 as an evolution of Rob’s existing business with Funkstylerz as he began to work with a number of well known international dancers as well as helping up and coming UK talent develop themselves as professionals.
Over the last 15 years, Rob has been involved in numerous projects ranging from live events to music, tv & film to education and he now manages some of the very best streetdance talent from around the world. One of his current focuses is on developing content for the ProDance TV channel which now has over 115,000 subscribers on YouTube.
