CONTEMPORARY TECHNIQUE & CHOREOGRAPHIC SKILLS

Merville was one of the founding members of Phoenix Dance Company and since then he has gone onto perform with Scottish Ballet, Steps Out, RJC Dance Theatre and Nubian Steps.  During his 27 years in the dance industry, Merville has been a full time contemporary dance teacher at Hammond School, assistant artistic director for Kokuma Dance Theatre, artistic director of M & EM Dance Company, Bucks Dance and North East Wales Dance Ltd.  Additional roles include Dance Development Officer for Cleveland and Berkshire, dance consultant for North Yorkshire County Council and education and community worker for Northern School of Contemporary Dance.  Throughout Merville’s career, he has choreographed a vast number of dance works for professional dance and theatre companies; youth dance groups and community groups.  He has served on the dance panel at the Arts Council of England and has been on the board of Directors of leading UK dance companies and colleges/universities.  Merville has made a significant contribution to youth dance in England, directing and choreographing a number of highly successful youth dance companies which have performed in Youth Dance England’s National Youth Dance Festival and toured throughout Poland, Spain and Israel. In 2009 Merville became Artistic Director of Dansconnect.
