CHOREOGRAPHIC SKILLS

Emma trained on Foundation course for 2 years at Swindon Dance then completed a 3 year degree at Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Leeds.  She went on to perform professionally with DansConnect Performance-led Dance Education Company and Motionhouse Dance Theatre.                 

Emma took some time out of performing to work as Dance Artist for youth dance in Hampshire, then as Dance Education and Access Officer for five years at Swindon Dance, delivering dance opportunities to children, young people and adults.  She then left to work independently as a Dance Artist delivering dance to all ages and abilities including professionals. 

Emma joined Swerve Dance Theatre Company, an associate company of Swindon Dance, as one of the founder professional dancers of whom she has performed with for over 6 years.  Performances with Swerve have included a recent Arts Council funded tour of ‘Subtext’ across Theatres, Arts Centres and Schools in the South West (Sept – Dec 2012); Outdoor and Dance Festivals including: Big Chill Festival, Bristol Harbourside Festival, Swindon Pride Festival, Oxford Cowley Road Carnival, Oxford Arts Festival, and Woking Dance Festival; Outdoor commissions in Swindon Town Centre and Swindon Big Arts Day Lydiard park; Resolution performance at The Robin Howard Theatre, The Place London; and Dance-on-film projects in various locations including a Park and Cornwall beach and lighthouse.

Emma has also worked with Marie-Louise Flexen dancing for Sparks band at Shepherds Bush Empire, and she has created and performed a site-specific duet with Michael Mitchell of Dance Aware, commissioned by Swindon Dance .

Emma also works for The Childrens Society charity and is a proud mother of Tilly, her three and a half year old little girl, who literally keeps her on her toes!
