Christopher Lee Wright, MRBsoc, PDTD (hons)

Chris was trained at the Legat School of Russian Classical Ballet in the Legat/Vaganova system and after graduating joined Gothenburg Ballet (Sweden). He has over 33 years experience as a ballet dancer, performer, ballet master and teacher and has worked with major ballet companies, musical theatre, opera, film and vocational institutions. He After leaving Sweden he danced with various Ballet companies including, Scottish Ballet, London City Ballet, the National Ballets of Norway and Portugal and English National Ballet. He was a guest principal dancer with the State Ballet of Pecs (Hungary), Minnesota Dance Theatre (USA), Ballet Ireland and Vienna Festival Ballet. He has also performed in the West End with the musicals ‘Phantom of the Opera’ and ‘Carousel’. He was a soloist dancer on European tour with Sylvie Guillem dancing in Bejart’s ‘Bolero’. Later Chris qualified as a teacher with the Russian Ballet Society and developed his teaching practice in the Legat and Vaganova method after working with his teacher Mr Mohsen El Wakil, (ex Bolshoi Ballet Academy and GITIS, Moscow) and Professor Kalina Bogoeva from the University of Sofia, gaining an Advanced Certificate in the Russian Pedagogic Method. Chris was a full time teacher at English National Ballet School for 5 years, at the Rambert School for 8 years and was Deputy Head of Dance at the Hammond School. He was the first foreigner to be invited to teach for 4 months in China at the Shanghai Ballet Academy and Shanghai Ballet Company. He has also been a regular guest teacher at the Houston Ballet Academy (USA) for the past 3years. Chris was Ballet Master of the International tour of ‘Phantom of the Opera’ for 2 years, and has been a guest Ballet Master for Singapore Dance Theatre and Tokyo City Ballet, he also regularly teaches workshops and Master classes in Japan.
